Abstract
849,730. Refractory bricks. HEUER, R. P. June 23, 1959 [June 24, 1958], No. 21471/59. Class 51 (2). A basic or neutral refractory brick 1 used in metallurgical furnaces comprises a mass of magnesite, chromite or a mixture thereof, an oxidisable metal plate 2 on aside face, and a stainless steel tab element attached as by welding to the top of said plate, the larger leg 4 of the tab having a tongue 5 pressed out of it and bent to project into the refractory. The tongue 5 broadens in width towards the tip and may be bent over at the tip, Fig. 3 (not shown). The plate 2 is made of iron or plain carbon steel. In a further modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), weakening notches are cut at the foot of the leg 4 to facilitate bending. Specification 764,396 is referred to.
