Abstract
848,420. Refrigerators. ELECTROLUX Ltd. Jan. 31, 1957 [Feb. 7, 1956], No. 3396/57. Class 29 An absorption refrigerator with high and low temperature evaporators has a shell provided with heat insulation enclosing a freezing space connected to the low temperature evaporator. In a first embodiment (Fig. 1) the low temperature evaporator 15 is covered by a plate 16 to which is attached the shell 24 provided with insulation 23 and enclosing a box- or trough-like freezing space 25. Entry of cold air from the upper part of the shell is controlled by a pivotable member 26 and the front is closed by a door hung on pivots 27. In a second embodiment (Fig. 2) the low temperature evaporator extends horizontally across the cabinet and carries a supporting plate 32 for ice trays. Underslung from the evaporator is a second plate 37 from which depends an insulated shell enclosing a freezing space 38. The high temperature evaporator 34 is provided with fins 35. The shell need not be entirely of metal only the wall touching the low temperature evaporator being so and the insulation may take the form merely of a radiation shield.
