Abstract

848,175. Centrifugal separators. PORSCHE. F. A. E. Oct. 15, 1958 [Nov. 16, 1957], No. 32878/58. Class 23 A cleaner for the lubricating oil of an internal combustion engine is driven by a rotary engine interposed in the main stream of the lubricating .system. The cleaner comprises a container 24 having a lid 23 facilitating cleaning and pressing an impeller 20 on to the hub 21 by means of a spring 22. The cleaner is mounted on a shaft 6 rotating in a bearing 3 in the crank case 1. The rotary engine is formed by vanes 7, 8 sliding in the shaft and engaging the wall of the hole 10 in a plate 11 to form chambers 12, 13. Pressure oil from the lubricating system passes through ducts 15, 14 to the chamber 12, and oil from the chamber 13 passes through ducts 16, 17, 18 to discharge into the cleaner. Cleaned oil from the cleaner passes through ducts 25, 26 back to the lubricating system.
