848,107. Pivoted-jaw clips. STEELS & BUSKS Ltd. June 23, 1958 [July 9, 1957], No. 21719/57. Class 44. In a clip for braces, adapted to grip the waist-band of trousers, a separate leafspring 5 is clamped to either a base-plate 1 or a clamping-plate 2 so as slidably to engage the other plate. A wire-loop 4, attached to the braces, is pivotably connected to the baseplate 1 by a bent-around tongue 12 on the latter which has a hole 13 therein and is flanged at 8 to receive the spring 5 and a serrated rubber pad 23 having holes 51 and 231, respectively, for the reception of a clamping bolt 24. A similar rubber pad 15 is secured by a bolt 25 to the clamping-plate 2 which has an extending tongue formed in two portions by a slot 18, each portion having an extension 16 and an ear 17. The extensions 16 are received in a slot 13 in the tongue 12 of the base-plate and engage behind the loop 4, and the ears 17 are supported by lugs 11 of the base-plate 1 which are drilled at 22 to receive the ears 21 of a toggle-plate 3. The clamping-plate, urged to the open position by the spring 9 and closed by the toggle-plate 3, is guided by the extension 16.
