Abstract

847,462. Meshing-screw compressors. ATLAS COPCO A.B. April 9, 1959 [April 9, 1959] [Dec. 30, 1958], No. 12007/59. Class 110 (2). The shafts 7, 8 of the rotors 5, 6 are mounted in twin angle ball-bearings capable of taking radial load and axial thrust in both directions 11, 12 and 13, 14 respectively, synchronizing gears 9, 10 being mounted outside the bearings. Helical driving gears 30, 29 are mounted on shafts 31, 41. The pinion 29 is mounted in roller bearings and the gear 30 in a roller bearing 33 and twin-angle bearings 34, 35. A trunnion 25 is connected to the shaft 41 by a torsion bar 40. A disengageable clutch 37 and a lubricating pump 36 are also provided. Axial pressures on the rotors due to delivery forces are counterbalanced by the driving forces of the gears 30, 29. Washers 15, 16 are provided between the bearings 11, 12 and 13, 14. Shaft seals 21, 22, 23, 24 are positioned where shown.
