Abstract

845,202. Steam and gas turbine power plant. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Nov. 27, 1956 [Nov. 29, 1955], No. 36264/56. Class 110 (3). A combined gas and steam turbine plant comprising a combustion chamber feeding the gas turbine and a steam turbine with at least two pressure stages with reheating between them has a boiler and reheater for the steam turbine situated in the combustion chamber with the boiler nearer the outlet and the reheater nearer the burners respectively. A compressor 1 supplies combustion air to a combustion chamber 2 feeding a turbine 3 driving the compressor 1 and an electric generator 9. The exhaust of the turbine 3 heats the feed water from a boiler feed pump 5 in a heat exchanger 4. The feed water is then heated in a boiler 2a and then supplied to the inlet of the steam turbine 6. After expansion in the high-pressure stage, the steam is reheated in the coil 2b and then fed to the low-pressure stage of the turbine 6. During starting, the turbine 6 is by-passed by the conduit 6g controlled by valve 6f. Control and intercept valves 6b, 6e may also be provided. The turbine 6 may drive an electrical generator 10. The gas turbine 3 may be arranged to drive also the boiler feed pump 5.
