Abstract

637,559. Gas turbine plant. SOC. RATEAU and ANXIONNAZ, R. Nov. 20, 1947, No. 30842. Convention date, Jan. 16. [Class 110(iii)] Gas is generated in a producer Gz, Fig. 2, at a pressure higher than that of the combustion chamber Ch1 and is expanded down in a turbine T2. The turbine T2 drives a compressor C2 which raises the air pressure from that of the delivery of the compressor C1 to that of the producer. The producer gas, which may have been cooled in purifiers, is heated in an exhaust gas heat-exchanger E2. The power delivered to a generator G1 is varied by varying the. power applied to the compressor C2. This is done by putting power into or taking power off the combination T2, C2 by means of a motor-generator M2G2 or by byepassing the turbine T2. Alternatively, the producer gas may be heated in a combustion chamber or in a heat-exchanger receiving hot gases from a combustion chamber. In a modification. the turbines T1, T2 and the compressors C1 are in two stages; the high-pressure combustion chamber receiving gas from the first stage of turbine T2 and the inter-stage reheater receiving gas from the final exhaust of turbine T2. In the plant shown in Fig. 3 steam for the producer Gz is generated in a heat-exchanger K and superheated in another K1. Part of this steam is used to heat the producer gases in an exchanger E2. The pressure at which the producer works is determined by the feed pump P.
