Abstract

844,381. Transformers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO. Ltd. Dec. 3, 1957 [Dec. 10, 1956], No. 37670/56. Class 38 (2). An oil-filled transformer has a hollow primary conductor 1 which passes into the transformer casing through an insulating bushing, and a hollow insulating conduit 4 extends coaxially therewith, the conduit being connected to an oil extraction line and provided with holes 5 so as to provide a flow path for oil as indicated by the arrows to cool the conductor. Means for releasing air are provided in the conductor when filling so that a static oil head is maintained in the conductor. A plurality of conductors and associated bushings may be provided. The end 8 of the conductor provides a terminal.
