Abstract

840,713. Electric air heaters and bed warmers. COX, P. C. May 17, 1956 [May 17, 1955], No. 14158/55. Class 39(3). [Also in Groups VI and XIII] A bed warmer and airer has a power driven fan accommodated within a casing 1 and an air duct 4 which is bowed or curved along its length and provided with an electric heating element 5 to heat air impelled by the fan from the casing into and through the duct. The heating element and fan are controlled by switches 9, 10 wired to prevent the element from being switched on when the fan is not running. A tapped boss 11 is provided in a bridge or spider at the discharge end of the duct 4 to receive a threaded pin on a conical boss 14 which rests on the mattress 15 and serves to distribute the discharged air. The curved portion of the duct holds the coverings clear of the matress while a strut 16 ensures that the inlet 2 to the fan will not be blocked if the warmer falls on to its side. The boss 14 may be mounted as shown in broken lines so that the duct 4 may be upright to serve as a hair dryer.
