Abstract

A pesticidal composition comprises as active ingredient at least one compound of the general formula <FORM:0839529/VI/1> wherein the Aryl radical is a member of the benzene, naphthalene or heterocyclic series, which may or may not be substituted, and R is hydrogen, alkyl containing 1-5 C atoms or phenyl, and an inert solid diluent or extender or a liquid diluent or extender containing an emulsifier. Emulsifying agents such as a phenyl hydroxy polyglycol ether, a diphenyl hydroxy polyglycol ether or a benzyl hydroxy polyglycol ether containing up to about 15 glycol radicals may also be included in the composition. Specified active ingredients are N - phenyl - N1 - thionylhydrazine, N - (2, -3- or 4-chlorophenyl)-N1-thionylhydrazine, N-(2,4 - dichlorophenyl) - N1 - thionylhydrazine, N - (phenyl - 4 - carboxylic acid ethyl ester)-N1 - thionylhydrazine, N - (2,4 - dinitrophenyl)-N1 - thionylhydrazine, 2 - (N1 - thionylhydrazine) - benzimidazole, 2 - (N1 - thionylhydrazine) - benzthiazole, N - (4 - methylphenyl) - N1-thionylhydrazine, N - (3 - dimethylamino - 4, 6 - dinitrophenyl) - N1 - thionylhydrazine, N-a - naphthyl - N1 - thionylhydrazine, N - (4-methoxyphenyl) - N1 - thionylhydrazine, N-(2 - methyl - 4 - chlorophenyl) - N1 - thionylhydrazine, N - phenyl - N - methyl - N1 - thionylhydrazine or N,N - diphenyl - N1 - thionylhydrazine. Specified solid diluents are lime, chalk, talcum, bentonite, kieselguhr, clay, and liquid diluents are alcohol, ketone, water.
