Abstract

838,601. Reels for harvesters. MASSEYFERGUSON (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd. May 21, 1958 [March 5, 1957], No. 7253/57. Addition to 775,490. Class 6(3). A harvester reel assembly comprises a reelcarrying structure pivotally mounted on the harvester to give up-and-down movement of reel 22, a reel support mounted at each side of said structure to give fore-and-aft movement, and means for adjusting the reel in both such directions. A shaft 18, rotatable in bearings 19 fixed to a harvester table 10, has rigidly attached side members 20 carrying slidable supports 21 for the reel 22 and pivotable with the shaft 18 by means of a hydraulic jack on each side of the table 10 to raise or lower the reel. Fore-and-aft adjustment of the reel is by means of crank arms 28, joined to the supports 21 by rods 29 and rigidly attached to a shaft 27 pivoted on an arm 26 at each end of the shaft 18, the shaft 27 being rotated by means of a worm wheel on the shaft engaging a worm 32 on a control shaft 31. Drive to the reel is from the sprocket 44 by an endless chain 45 to a sprocket 46 on the shaft 47 of the reel, the chain passing over idlers 48, 49, the idler 49 being spring urged.
