Abstract
Purified solutions containing lactams and lactam oligomers (built up of 2-5 lactam molecules) are obtained by extracting a lactam dissolved in a substantially water-immiscible organic solvent with washing water obtained by washing lactam polyamide, and passing the resulting aqueous lactam solution containing lactam oligomers over ion exchangers. The original lactam may be that prepared from oximes, or may be the depolymerization products of polyamides. Normal extraction techniques may be used. Both cation and anion exchangers may be used. Specifications 762,879 and 763,954 are referred to.
