Abstract

838,505. Disc brakes. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. Nov. 27, 1957 [Nov. 28, 1956], No. 36434/56. Class 103 (1). In a parking brake arrangement for a disc brake a pair of levers 17 and 18, pivoted to the caliper housing 13 of the main disc brake by pins 16, which when moved together by actuation of the inner end of lever 28 pivoted to lever 18 and the reaction of tension member 29 urge the friction pads 23, carried on backing plates 24, into frictional engagement with the disc. The backing plates 24 are provided with studs 26 which slide in longitudinal slots 27 in the side walls of levers 17 and 18 and each lever has a curved face 25 which forms a surface in rolling engagement with the rear faces of the backing plates 24 when the brake is applied. The backing plates 24 are carried on pins 22 mounted on pressings 21 mounted between the side walls of each of the levers 17, 18. Adjustment for wear of the friction pads 23 is effected by disconnecting split pin 35 and screwing lever 29 into the swivel block 34 attached to auxiliary lever 28.
