Abstract

838,405. Filters. CHAPELLE, R. A. H. P. March 17, 1958 [March 18, 1957], No. 8401/58. Class 46. [Also in Group II] Preserved fruits, e.g. glacÚ cherries, are freed of their surface syrup by passing them over one or more series of rotating rollers such as a<SP>1</SP> to a<SP>5</SP>. The syrup adhering to the rollers is removed by scrapers 4. The rollers are spaced apart so that small pieces or small fruit can drop through. The rollers may be ridged. The spaces e can be set to sort the fruit into various sizes. The rollers are rotated from one another by belts to give an increasing peripheral speed to the succeeding rollers or by having rollers of increasing diameter, Fig. 3 (not shown). In Fig. 2 a cherry is rotated between rollers a<SP>1</SP>, a<SP>2</SP> until it is displaced by another cherry X.
