Abstract
833,281. Securing rotary elements to shafts. BUCHI, A. J. March 27, 1957 [April 27, 1956], No. 10034/57. Class 80 (2). In a turbo-compressor rotor assembly wherein the two rotors are drawn together axially by a tension member secured to the turbine rotor and extending through a tubular support shaft having a flange to which the compressor rotor is bolted, the turbine torque is transmitted by independent means to the shaft and compressor rotor. A turbine rotor 1 is secured to a flanged support shaft 5 by an axial tensionmember 8, nut 8a, collar 8b, spring means 9, sleeve 9a and axial bearing 10, the member 8 having splined supporting portions 8<SP>1</SP>. A compressor rotor 2 is secured axially to a narrow annular surface 5c of the flange 5a of shaft 5 by bolts 6 passing through clearance holes 5 in the flange. Drive from the turbine rotor to the flange and to the compressor rotor is effected by axial pins 7 secured in the flange and having flattened end portions received in slots 1b, 2b in the respective rotors. The turbine and compressor rotors are located radially with respect to the shaft 5 by shoulders 1c on the turbine rotor and 5b on the shaft 5, such that the member operating at the higher temperature is within the member at the lower temperature.
