Abstract

832,197. Spray burners. RILEY, D. A. Sept. 20, 1956 [Jan. 25, 1956], No. 2479/56. Class 75(1) In an oil burner comprising an oil supply pipe 1 encompassed at its discharge end by a hollow annular air deflector 9 which tapers internally and externally towards the discharge end of the pipe so as to compress air passing through the deflector under pressure from an air duct 3, and concentrate said air on the stream of oil discharged from the pipe 1 to atomize the oil before it mixes with the main stream of air which is constrained to pass around the outside of the deflector, the pipe 1 is longitudinally adjustable bodily towards and away from the discharge end of the burner housings 2 and the deflector 9 is carried by and is adjustable along the pipe 1 and is secured in the set position. As shown the deflector screws on the pipe 1 and is locked in position to suit the type of fuel used by a locking ring 10. The pipe 1 slides through a hole 5 in the housing 2 and is locked in the position for the desired spread and length of flame by means of a tapered retaining bush 6 which coacts with a tapered portion 5a of the hole 5, the bush 6 being wedged securely in position by a screw clamping collar 7.
