Abstract

831,915. Keyboard switches; switch contacts. GUILLEMANT, R. E. Nov. 18, 1957 [Nov. 16, 1956], No. 35918/57. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXXVI] A switch arrangement comprises an insulating panel 1 having a printed circuit thereon, cylindrical studs 5 1 -5 3 , 5<SP>1</SP> 1 -5<SP>1</SP> 3 forming the fixed contacts of the arrangement soldered directly to the printed circuit and at least one key 11 controlling the position of moving contacts 7, 7<SP>1</SP>, the keys and the moving contacts being mounted on a support 2, 3 which is secured to the panel. As shown, the moving contacts of each switch are mounted on a bar 4 which is slid longitudinally in supports 2, 3 by the key 11 so that in either extreme position of the bar each blade bridges at least two contact studs. The key 11 pivots about a projecting rib 13 which bears against the support 3. Notches 18, 19 are formed in the bar 4 and the bar is held in the actuated position, against the thrust of a return spring 50, by a spring-loaded locking-rod 15 pivoted at 16 which engages in the notch 19. If another key on the switchboard is actuated the raised portion between the notches on the bar associated with that key lifts the locking- rod and so releases the previously-actuated key.
