Abstract

831,327. Endless slat conveyers. COURTAULDS Ltd. Feb. 6, 1957 [Feb. 7, 1956], No. 3742/56. Class 78 (1). A conveyer consists of a series of slats 2, each of which has serrations, ridges or pins 3 projecting from its upper surface, a cylindrical channel 4 running the length of one edge, and a cylindrical bearing 5 running the length of the other edge. Adjacent slats are connected by sliding longitudinally the beading of one slat into the channel of the other. The slats are kept in place by threaded pins 7 which are inserted through holes 8 in one slat into grooves 9 in the beading of the adjacent slat. The slats are shorter than the width of the belt and are assembled end-to-end in rows, the slats in each row being staggered in relation to those in neighbouring rows. The slats may be made from metal sheeting or from a moulding of asbestos fibre impregnated with a thermosetting resin, e.g. a phenol-formaldehyde resin.
