Abstract
831,320. Bearings. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. Jan. 21, 1958 [Jan. 30, 1967], No. 1984/58. Class 12 (1) A bearing bush 26 is mounted in a housing 24 by means of an interposed holder 30 comprising end rings 32, 34 connected by leaf-spring 36, the bush 26 being spaced from the leafsprings 36 by central protuberances 43 on the latter. The bush 26 is retained axially within the holder 30 by a retaining-ring 52 shrunkfitted in the ring 34. An upwardly-extending tab 54 on the ring 52 prevents turning of the bush 26 relative to the holder 30. A sleeve 28 is mounted on a shaft 68 by means of a similar holder 58 comprising end-rings 84, 86 joined by a plurality of integral leaf-springs 64. The sleeve 28 is shrunk-fitted on a centring sleeve 70 having an annular projection 76 through which it is secured by rivets 74 to the springs 64. In a modification, the centring sleeve 70 is omitted and protuberances 100, Fig. 6, are provided on springs 98. Passages 118, 120 are provided for the flow of coolant.
