Abstract

829,128. Stud and socket fastenings. COOKE, R. S. Feb. 17, 1958 [Feb. 15, 1957], No. 5164/57. Class 44 A turn-button fastener for securing together two members, e.g. two superposed panels 9, 10, Fig. 2, comprises a stud A having a head 6, a neck 11 and an elongated foot 12, and a resilient spring collar B adapted for non-rotatable mounting about the neck 11 and provided with resilient tangs 18 for engaging with the ends of an elongated slot 14, Fig. 5, in the panel 10 to lock the elongated foot across the width of the slot. The stud A is provided with a circular boss 7 for rotatably locating the stud within an aperture 8 in the panel 9, and the collar B is provided with a central aperture 15 the rim of which is formed with a pair of diametrically opposed dependant flanges 17 adapted to engage the longitudinal flat sides of the neck 11 when the lower edges of the flanges 17 are sprung above shoulders 13 formed between the neck 11 and the foot 12. The head 6 is slotted at 69 for engagement by a screwdriver to effect turning of the stud A and collar B, after the foot 12 has been passed through the slot 14 to its engaged position. Each tang 18 is preferebly apertured at 18a and formed with a depression 18b.
