Abstract

825,915. Coiling textile slivers. SACOLOWELL SHOPS. May 1, 1957 [May 22, 1956], No. 13934/57. Classes 120(2) and 120(3) Mechanism for coiling textile slivers comprises delivery rolls 18, 19 and an inclined tube 14 for conducting the sliver through an aperture 21 in a gear member 12 to a can 32, which tube is mounted to rotate with the gear member and to tilt independently of it. The tilting facilitates removal of the sliver, and may actuate a stop-motion, when the tube becomes clogged. The gear member has a housing 16 in which a shaft 17 is pivotally mounted; secured to the shaft are a collar 15 carrying the tube, and a lever 33 with a roller 34 which can move over centres about a spring-urged plunger 35, but which is normally disposed above it to hold the tube in its operative position. Should the tube become clogged, the pressure of the sliver tilts the tube to cause the shaft 17 to rotate the lever 33, so that the roller 16 presses back the plunger 35 while it takes up the lower of its two position. At the same time, a member 38 is moved to cause a member 39 to project so that, as the gear rotates, it engages a switch 37 to stop the mechanism. The gear may be driven and supported by the means set forth in Specification 825,916.
