Abstract
In the heat treatment of silicon-iron alloys as described in the parent Specification, (a) the cold deformations are followed by introducing heat treatments, (b) the percentage reduction of the section of the workpiece produced by the last deformation (40-85%) is greater than that produced by the penultimate deformation (8-40%) and (c) the heat treatment between the last two stages is carried out at a temperature between 750 and 950 DEG C. The final heat treatment may be preceded by an additional heat treatment the temperature (500-800 DEG C.) and duration (at least 10 minutes) of which are such that more than 90% complete primary recrystallization takes place with less than 10% secondary recrystallization with cubic texture. This additional heat treatment may be carried out in a non-oxidizing or gently oxidizing atmosphere preferably containing hydrogen, and the workpiece may or may not be cooled to room temperature before the final heat treatment.
