Abstract
825,441. Load handling machines. BRITISH HOIST & CRANE CO. Ltd., and EVANS, P. N. Nov. 9,1955 [Aug. 9,1954], No. 23071/54. Class 78 (3). In a lift truck the vertically moving pistonrod 15 of the luffing ram has a roller 31 which engages a cam 32 on the jib 19a, 19b. The ram cylinder, together with the jib, is slewed about the vertical axis of the ram by an hydraulicallyactuated chain and sprocket gearing (Fig. 2, not shown). A further hydraulic ram, housed within jib section 19a extends section 19b and, as shown in Fig. 3, the hook 35 may be mounted on a bell-crank 40 which is connected by a rod 42 to a slide 43 running in a slot in section 19a whereby the crank 40 pivots to move the hook outwardly during the final extension movement of section 19b.
