823,925. Liquid fuel burners. COOPER, R. B., and ASSOCIATED BRITISH COMBUSTION Ltd. Feb. 1, 1956 [Nov. 12, 1954], No. 32836/54. Class 75(1) In a liquid fuel burner assembly in which the burner is axially displaceable into and from a firing position and carries with it a cock for controlling the fuel supply from an oil supply pipe to an atomizer the cock is provided with a part which is rotatable with the cock and the part comprises a projecting portion which engages a fixed abutment and arrests the axial movement of the burner from an operative position to a withdrawn position if the cock is not turned off but clears the abutment and permits withdrawal of the burner if the cock is turned off and the oil supply to the burner is interrupted. A sprayer body 1 is removably held in a tube 2 slidably held in a boss 3 secured to the furnace front by a flange 4. The spindle 9 of a fuel supply control cock 5 carries a D-shaped member 11. When the cock 5 is shut a flat 12 on the member 11 allows the member 11 to pass an abutment 8 fixed to a channel member 6 so that the tube 2 and sprayer body 1 can be moved into or out of the operative position. When the tube 2 is moved to the withdrawn position shown in full lines on Fig. 2, a locking screw head 14 is accessible through an opening 13 in the channel 6 to allow the sprayer body 1 to be removed from the tube 2. When the locking screw is released and a valve body member 16 is moved downwards a spigot 15 on the sprayer body 1 and an aperture 17 in the valve body 16 are disengaged. The removal. of the sprayer body 1 releases the pressure on a spring-loaded valve 24, through the intermediary of a guide 23, to cut off the fuel supply duct between the cock 5 and the sprayer body 1.
