Abstract
823,481. Surgical injection apparatus. LABORATOIRES VIFOR S.A. Oct. 14, 1957 [Oct. 30, 1956], No. 32063/57. Class 81 (2). Surgical injection apparatus comprises a reservoir 1 inseparably connected to a conduit for conducting liquid to an injection member, the conduit being closed by a rigid breakable stopper and both the conduit and the reservoir being made of flexible material. A liquid reservoir 1 made of flexible synthetic resin, e.g. polyethylene, is connected by a flexible conduit 4 to one end of a flexible drip chamber 6. A conduit 7 connects the other end of the drip chamber 6 to an injecting member, e.g. a needle. A glass stopper comprising a tube 9 closed at one end by a bulb 10 is inserted in the flexible conduit 4 so that the bulb 10 is located in the drip chamber 6. At the outlet end of the drip chamber 6 is filter material 8. In use the bulb 10 is broken off so that liquid from the reservoir 1 can pass drop-by-drop into the drip chamber 6 and thence to the injecting member. The stopper may alternatively comprise a tube closed at that end which projects into the drip chamber, a construction or scratch enabling the closed end to be broken off.
