822,393. Look-out reflectors for vehicles. BRUCE, A. W. A., and BRUCE (nee DANKERT) E. W. L., [trading as BRUCE & CO. O. H. G., A. W. A.]. Oct. 2, 1957 [June 28, 1957], No. 20541/57. Class 103(2) [Also in Group XXV] A rear view mirror for two-wheeled vehicles, e.g. motor cycles, has a mirror proper 34, Fig. 1, retained by a grommet 33 in a frame 31 having a lug 30 pivotally mounted by a screw 38 in a bifurcation 29 on a bracket 1 supporting an expansible rubber sleeve 8 frictionally engageable in the interior of the vehicle handlebar, the mirror proper being movable from the position shown through substantially 90 degrees, so as to extend in the rearward direction of the vehicle, when parking the latter against a wall. Referring to Fig. 3, the sleeve 8 is expanded by a bolt 3 passing through the bracket 1 and engaging a nut 6, having projection 6a, Fig. 1, engaging notches in the sleeve end. If desired the bolt may be integral with the bracket and the latter is provided with flats 40 whereby it may be turned. The back of the frame 31 is reinforced by a rib and the grommet 36 is retained by a protuberance 32 and a clip 35. Specifications 735,168 and 793 327 are referred to.
