821,273. Pedestal stands, brackets. BRANDON ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING CO. (LEEDS) Ltd. April 17, 1958 [April 18, 1957], No. 12677/57. Classes 52(3) and 52(5) In a telescopically adjustable pedestal stand the inner member 5 passes through an annular counterweight 9 housed in the outer tube 2 and connected by wires passing over pulleys to a notched slider 7 on the bottom of the member 5 which travels on guide rods 6 within the tube. The counterweight can also be notched as at 9a to engage the guide rods and is preferably fitted with antifriction balls 10. A counterweighted bracket arm 17 to carry a lamp 16 &c. can be pivoted to the top of the member 5. The lamp casing can be pivotally adjusted and the arm 17 may slide in the pivot coupling 20 for balance setting and the coupling 20 may rotate axially on the member 5.
