820,869. Knitted garments with sleeves. DOUGHTY, J. C. Sept. 24, 1957 [Sept. 28, 1956], No. 29685/56. Class 141 [Also in Group VIII] A sleeve for a jersey is provided with a pouch produced by narrowing during reciprocatory knitting on a circular knitting- machine. The pouch may be formed at the shoulder so that the garment when completed conforms to the shape of the wearer, or it may be formed at the elbow. Alternatively the pouch may extend from the cuff so as to provide a mitten on the end of the sleeve. Additionally when the pouch 7 is formed at the shoulder and on completion of narrowing, a strip 8 is knitted by reciprocatory knitting which forms an epaulet. The front and rear portions of the jersey are attached to the selvedge edges of the strip 8 which has its end attached to the neckband. The sleeve may be fashioned by commencing knitting at the cuff with a rib formation and gradually diminishing the number of rib wales until the inner end of the sleeve is knitted as a completely plain fabric.
