Abstract
820,367. Tractor power-lift linkage mechanisms. MASSEY-FERGUSON Inc. Jan. 9, 1956, No. 646/56. Class 79(1) The tension draft links of a tractor hitch for coupling an implement to a tractor, are each formed of two parts pivoted together, a spring-actuated lock being interposed between the two parts, the lock being manually releasable to allow relative movement of the parts when connecting with an implement and being automatically lockable when the parts are aligned after such connection. As shown in Fig. 1, the A-frame 46 for a plough 42 clamped to a tool bar 43, is connected by pins 54, 48 to an upper link 18, pivoted to a bracket 39 rigidly secured to the tractor housing 14, and a pair of tension draft links 10 pivoted to the housing 14 by pivots 12. The links 10 are connected by links 37, 38 to lift arms 34 on a shaft 33 mounted in a sleeve 25 journalled in the bracket 39 and also brackets 27 on the housing. Secured to the sleeve is an arm 29 connected to a double acting hydraulic or other ram 30. The length of the link 18 is adjustable by a turntable 20 and one of the links 37, 38 is also adjustable in length, whilst the arms 10 have substantial lateral freedom about the pivots 12. A slight lost motion connection (not shown) is provided between the arm 29 and the arms 34. Each arm 10, Fig. 2, is formed of parts 62, 67 pivoted together by a pin 66 on a U-shaped. extension 61 welded at 63 to the part 62. The part 67 has its front end rounded at 75 and a notch 74 to engage with a pin 72 secured by snap rings in slots 70 in the sides of the extension 61, the pin 72 being retained in a locked position in the slot 74 by a spring (not shown) housed in a slot 68 in the part 62. 'The parts 62, 67 are automatically aligned and locked together after hitching the implement to the linkage when the tractor is driven forward or the power lift is operated and can only be released by manually releasing the pin 72 from the slot 74. Movement of the part 67 is limited in one direction by the corner 77 of the bridge of the member 61 and in the other direction by the top of the bridge itself.
