Abstract

820,215. Optical magnifying apparatus. SHIELD, J. G. April 2, 1957 [April 6, 1956], No. 10584/56. Class 97(1) A microscope structure comprises a support in sheet form having a viewing aperture thereon; means for mounting a lens on said support in front of this aperture and a holder attached to, or integral with, said support for the adjustable positioning behind the support of an object to be examined. As shown in Figs. 3 and 4 the support 12 carries a lens 13 in the form of a glass bead and is integral with a plate 17 shaped to hold a slide 20 and adjustable for focusing by a nut 18. A light shield 23 may be provided. The plate 17 may be omitted, the slide, test tube or other object being held to the plate 12 by clips. The lens. 13 may be carried by a mount screwthreaded for focusing. The microscope structure may be fitted to the pocket 36, Fig. 7, of an illuminating device containing a light source 38 whereby a projected image may be produced.
