820,003. Feeding screws to screwdrivers. ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS. Aug. 30, 1955, No. 11596/59. Divided out of 820,001. Class 78 (1). Screws from hopper 184 fall into rotating drum 196 driven by gear 228 through slipping clutch 230 (in case of stoppages), and the screws which are correctly orientated fall through slots 208 formed in the drum and slide down shoot 186, being held at the bottom thereof by pivoted pawl 274. When the operator of a power screwdriver wishes to replenish the magazine 72 thereof, he advances said magazine to engage and push back collar 270. The latter collar is carried by rod 264, which rod is accordingly displaced to rotate said pawl 274 and also pawl 284, so that pawl 284 is moved into a closed position whilst pawl 274 is moved into an open position, thus releasing the required number of screws to fall into the magazine of the screwdriver. Brackets 252 permit adjustment of size of shoot 186.
