818,113. Cathode materiats and processing. EGYESœLT IZZOLAMPA ES VILLAMOSSAGI R. T. April 1, 1957, No. 10629/57. Drawings to Specification. Class 39(1). An impregnated supply cathode is made by mixing, compressing, and sintering a powdered mixture of a refractory metal and an alkaline earth metal peroxide, with aluminium or an aluminium alloy as a reducing agent. The refractory metal may be tungsten powder, of different grain sizes. The peroxide may be barium, or a mixture of barium, strontium and calcium in a 2:1:2 mol-ratio. Suitable proportions of the materials are given, and suitable pressures, temperatures and times for the sintering and activiting steps. The porous sintered body may be machined by impregnating with paraffin wax, subsequently removed. Austrian Specification 177,484 is referred to.
