816,376. Filtering gases. CLIFF VALE ENGINEERING WORKS Ltd. Dec. 13, 1956 [Jan. 13, 1956], No. 1206/56. Class 8(2). [Also in Group XII] Apparatus for filtering dust-laden air or other gas comprises a casing 4 within which a drum with permeable walls 8 is mounted to :rotate on a hollow shaft 5; air or other gas is drawn by a fan 15 down through the walls of the drum and a gas, e.g. air, is supplied under pressure through the hollow shaft 5 to pass from nozzles in a pipe 17, Fig. 2, through the walls of the drum into a collecting duct 16. The drum may be formed of cylinders made of wire mesh, textile material or synthetic, plastic or glass fibres supported on two or more pinions 7. The pinions 7 mesh with pinions 13 on a driving shaft 14 to rotate the drum.
