Class 64(1) A primary hot water system, heating the draw-off water in a storage vessel f by means of a heat exchanger b in the latter, receives its water from that vessel, and has within the storage vessel two air traps. The heat exchanger is filled through the first trap d, e, and the second is provided in a vent pipe c connected to the heat exchanger. The arrangement is such that the primary water in the heat exchanger is not displaced into the draw-off water. In one form, Fig. 1, water enters the first air trap, formed by partitions d, e within the top of a vertical cylindrical heat exchanger, through an opening g, and overflows the top of the partition d. In a modification, the heat exchanger is horizontal, and during filling water overflows from a vertical pipe into an air space formed by a partition depending from the top of the heat exchanger. In another form, the air trap is outside and above the heat exchanger, and is connected to it by a short pipe. In another form, Fig. 3, the air trap is formed at the bottom of an annular heat exchanger b connected to a boiler, by two annular walls o, p of angle-shaped cross-section.
