Abstract

816,167. Refrigerators. WHIRLPOOL CORPORATION. Sept. 20, 1957 [Sept. 27, 1956], No. 29702/57. Class 29 The bottom plate 29 of the outer shell of a refrigerator is bent downwards at 41, 42 to form side fore-and-aft rails 39, 40 supporting the cabinet and defining between them a space for the condensate pan 162 and through which air can circulate. The centre part of the rear of the plate is formed as a resilient support 50 for the motor compressor unit 61 the upper part of which carries a bracket 163 to which the condenser 160 is secured. The upper parts of the condenser are secured to the back wall of the cabinet by resilient clips. The condenser consists of horizontal or vertical runs spanned by wires 113. A cover 170 is disposed to the rear of the compressor unit and the unit enclosure is lined with sound absorbing material 175, 159. The pan 162 has staggered baffles 164 extending upwards to slide on plate 29 so that the air takes an elongated path. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 763,454.
