Class 29 A refrigerated display case comprises upper and lower storage compartments 16, 17 having access openings across which air is circulated by a far 43 in parallel streams of differing velocities. The air is first passed over evaporators 37 located in a passageway 18 extending over the sides and back of the compartments 16, 17 and re-enters the fan through a passageway 19 formed by the adjacent walls of the compartments. The horizontal walls bounding the access openings have slots 21, 22 and as shown the horizontal walls of passageway 18 have each a curved bale 23 dividing the air into inner, faster, and outer, slower, streams. The food storage shelves are. plate evaporators.
