Abstract

814,777. Motor vehicle hydraulic driving gear; driving auxiliary parts. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Feb. 20, 1957 [March 14, 1956], No. 5731/57. Class 79(2) The transmission for a vehicle having a prime mover 1 with a governor 2 for speed regulation, incorporates a torque limiter coupling 14 which stalls-at an input torque below the maximum torque of the prime mover 1 so that there is always power available for a power take-off 13 which is driven through a non-slip connection. In the example the coupling 14 is a hydrodynamic torque converter driven through gears 7, 8, 9 and connected to the vehicle gear-box 19 through a shaft 17. The power take-off pulley 13 is driven directly through the gears 7, 8, 9 and a shaft 11.
