Abstract
812,263. Cap spinning &c. machines; yarn package supports. PRINCE-SMITH & STELLS Ltd. April 18, 1957 [April 18, 1956], No. 11780/56. Addition to 794,114. Classes 120(2) and. 120(3) A cap spinning or twisting machine has spindle units adapted to accommodate extensible bobbins as described in the parent Specification. The outer member 19 of each extensible bobbin is carried by a short hollow spindle mounted on a rail 2 and splined with a hollow plunger 5 that carries the inner member 18 of the bobbin and is mounted on a rail 8. A dead spindle 27 supports the cap 31. As described in the parent Specification the rails 2, 8 may be retracted by a chain 21. An alternative form of builder mechanism is driven from a motor 41, Fig. 6,, through a clutch 44, gearing 42f, 42k and worm 421, the latter driving a heart cam 43a. By further worm gearing, drive is transmitted to a shaft 51 and a worm 51a that rotates a chain sprocket 53 around which is wrapped a chain 53a connected through sprockets and a further chain to the rail 2 for the gradual lowering of the latter. Superimposed on the lowering motion is a reciprocatory motion derived from the heart cam 43a through a sliding carriage 50. After the rail 2 has been lowered by the length of the member 19 (Fig. 5), the rail 8 has a lowering and reciprocatory motion imparted to it through a cam 45 and lever 52. In addition to the builder motion, the motor 41 drives the drawing rollers 30a through the clutch 44 and gearing 42f and 33a. In an alternative form, axial reciprocation may be imparted to the dead spindle.
