Class 47 In the control device of an exhauster valve of a pressurized dry pipe water sprinkler fire extinguishing system, a differentially acting pressure actuated member 13 operates, upon reduction of pressure in the system, to open a cut-off valve 24 which admits pressure to a pressure responsive element 20 by means of which the exhauster valve 5 is opened, the member 13 being mounted in a balance chamber and communicating with the system on one side B directly and on the other side A through a restriction valve 16 which has means whereby on displacement of the member 13 to open the cutoff valve, the rate of flow through the restriction valve is reduced. The restriction valve 16 is mounted in the diaphragm 13 and includes a spring loaded needle valve 30, Fig. 2, which at its lower end is adapted to engage a cam face 29 on the operating lever 25 of the cut-off valve 24 so that the displacement of the diaphragm 13 serves both to open the cut-off valve 24 and to move the needle valve 30 towards its closed position.
