811,077. Pipe joints. TRI-SIL (CHEMICALS & EQUIPMENT) Ltd. March 8, 1957 [Dec. 10, 1956], No. 37673/56. Class 99(1). [Also in Group VI] A coupling device comprises one or more compressible sealing rings 8, 9, which are compressed between the inwardly bevelled ends 7, 12, of a pair of sleeves 6, 10, by a tightening means 13 which forces the assembly of sleeves and rings 6, 8, 9, 10, assembled on the tube 14 against a compressible washer 5 seated against a shoulder 4 in the coupling member 2. The washer 4 and rings 8, 9, may be of neoprene, plastic, or copper and the bevelled ends of the sleeves 6, 10, force the rings 8, 9, into tight contact with the tube 14 and the inner surface of the device 1 when compressed. The coupling member 2 may be a separate piece or part of a container and the coupling is also applicable to hypodermic syringes to seal the barrel to the needle.
