Abstract
810,464. Percussive tools. JOCHUMS, A., and WITTKOP, E., [trading as HAUINCO MASCHINENFABRIK G. HAUSHERR JOCHUMS & CO.]. Nov. 7, 1955 [Nov. 12, 1954], No. 31750/55. Class 124. A pneumatic percussive tool has a buffer of rubber or rubber-like material constructed as a cap one part of which surrounds the forward end of the piston cylinder and another part is disposed radially inwardly in front of the cylinder, the buffer being arranged between the cylinder and a steel-retaining cap and acting as a resilient stop for the steel. As shown, the forward end of a piston cylinder 2 has fitted, in a part 10 of smaller external diameter, a rubber buffer 11, the free end 13 of which is located in front of the cylinder and the aperture therein is slightly greater than the diameter of the piston extension 17. The buffer 11 is maintained in position by a steel-retaining cap 3, screwed on to the front of the cylinder. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the cylinder bore may be parallel to the end and a washer may be arranged in the steelretainer to prevent escape of gas, which gas acts as a cushion.
