Abstract
809,059. Typewriters. ADLERWERKE VORM. H. KLEYER, A. G. April 12, 1957 [April 14, 1956], No. 12042/57. Class 100(4) In a device for regulating the striking force of the types in power driven typewriters and like machines having a cam 11 which upon engaging a driving roller 15 operates a driving lever 8 to effect typing, the cam surface has a separate stop part 23 adjustably mounted thereon so that the time of contact with a coacting stop 24a may be adjusted letter-by-letter. The friction surface 14 and the stop part 23 of the cam 14 may be made of moulded plastic, and is adjustable on stop 23 slides on the guides 38 by its engagement with an annular recess in a screw 30 which engages in a nut 31 inserted in an arm 11a of the cam 11. The step surface 23a of the stop part 23 is shaped such that a line extending from this surface is above the pivotal connection 13 of the cam 11 to achieve softer striking and a slight sliding between the surface 23a and the stop 24a. A series of stops 24a are mounted on a common bar 24 which can be manually adjusted to effect collective adjustment for all key-actions and is coupled to the case-shift mechanism so that there is automatic adjustment when printing capital and lower case letters (see Fig. 5, not shown).
