Abstract
807,299. Animal feeding devices. SAYER, R. M. March 20, 1957, No. 9185/57. Class 5(2). In a pig sty pro- vided with a trough 6 and a cover 1 above the trough, the cover may swing to expose or close the trough and is controlled by a link arrangement extending between the lower edge of the cover and the outer edge of the trough. The link arrangement may comprise one pair of links 7 and 8, but preferably comprises two such pairs spaced apart and interconnected by a member 9. As shown in Fig. 1, the cover is locked in its closed position, but on rocking a lever 10 mounted at the top of the door, a lifting movement is transmitted to the member 9 via the member 12, the linkage is broken and the cover is free to swing to expose the trough, the swinging movement being limited by a stop 13 mounted on the outer edge of the trough. In order to close the trough again, the cover is pushed back to its closed position, whereupon each pair of links drops over-centre to an extent limited by an abutment 8<SP>1</SP> on one link of the pair. Where several sties in a row are in use, the levers 10 of their respective covers 1 may be interconnected by a cable which, on being operated by, for example, a time controlled mechanism, rocks all the bell-crank levers and opens all the covers simultaneously.
