Oct. 5, 1955 [Oct. 12, 1954], No. 28340/55. Class 99(1). A tube 12 connected to a pipe 18 leading to a consumer device extends from a cock 1 connected at 5 to a gas cylinder or is fitted to the cock or itself forms a cock, flow of gas being controlled by a device comprising a fixed valve 7 and a seat 6 which is moved to the right against the action of a spring 13 to open the valve, a sealed connection having first been formed between the seat and the pipe 18 whereby escape of gas during the opening of the valve is precluded. As shown, a cone 15 is pressed against a conical surface 14 on the seat 6 by a flange 16 on the end of the pipe 18 to form a seal. When the connection is made a flat washer may be used instead of a cone. The valve 7 is secured to a rod 9 connected to a perforated disc 8 wedged in the tube 12, the pressure of the spring 13 on the seat 6 is greater than the total pressure of the gas on the seat, and the seat 6 is sealed in the tube 12 by packing or by means of a flexible diaphragm.
