Abstract

807,001. Thermal switches; switches held set and freed Mechanically. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Jan. 3, 1957 [Jan. 3, 1956], No. 195/56. Class 38 (5). A thermal cut-out, particularly for use as a temperature limiting device on a heater, comprises a conducting base-plate 1 with a termina 8 and a resilient strip 7 attached to one end and having at the other end a terminal 2 insulated from the plate and attached thereto by an insulated contact rivet 4. The strip 7 carries a contact 9 biased away from the contact 4 and capable of being moved into engagement by movement of a pivoted member 12 which is held in the contact closed position by a bi-metallic strip 17 which curves downwards on heating to release the member 12 and allow the contacts to open. A screw 18 is provided for adjustment of temperature setting.
