806,215. Woodworking. WST PATENTER A.B. Sept. 6, 1956 [June 6,1956], No. 27300/56. Class 145. A machine for lining the edges of slabs, for example, doors, with strips of veneer or other edging material comprises a veneer drum 5 on each side of a roller feed table 2, a rotary glueing device 7 for one side of each veneer strip, a pressing table 4 having screw-adjusted heated beams 10 and 11 one of which is movable by pneumatic cylinders 23 and a belt or chain 18 driven by a motor 16 and having dogs 21 for feeding the slab from the feed table to the pressing table, where the slab remains stationary until the glue has set, and then on to a collecting table 27. When the slab has been placed on the feed table and the veneer strips, which are turned to a vertical position by guides 24, have been attached to the forward ends of the slab edges, a switch 15 is actuated to start the motor 16 and cause the belt 18 to feed the slab and the veneer strips until the rear end passes a switch 22 which is operated to stop the motor. As the slab stops on the pressing table, the beam 11 is moved inwards to clamp the strips to the slab and remains in this positoni under the control of a time relay for a time sufficient to allow the glue to set. When the beam moves outwards again, it operates a switch 25 which restarts the motor 16 and starts two pairs of cutters 26 pressing on opposite sides of the slab so that the veneered edges of the slab are trimmed and then the veneers are pasted off as the slab is moved to the collecting table.
