Abstract

806,119. Shelters &c. BLAKELEY (SHEFFIELD), Ltd. Nov. 2, 1956 [March 9, 1956], No. 7404/56. Class 20(1) A shelter for bus passengers &c. comprises abutting wall slabs 9, 10 held together between pillars A, D by horizontal straining wires 17 passing through holes in the body of the slabs and anchored at their ends within the pillars A, D. The slabs may be in line or at an angle to each other as in Fig. 2 to simulate a curve. The holes for the wires may be formed e.g. by plastic tube 20, Fig. 4, moulded in the concrete of the slabs and the anchors are secured in moulded holes 33 in the pillars. The wires 17 are tightened by the nut 36 of a screw bolt 35 in the pillar within an abutting washer 34 after which the projecting bolt end 40 is cut off and the hole filled with grout. The roof slabs 41 rest on pillars 47, Fig. 6, which have upstanding loops 46 of the reinforcing wires through which the straining wires pass, after which the roof holes 49 are filled with grout.
