802,904. Mixing liquids. SOMERSCALES, R. W., HADLOW, F. B., and RAWSTHORNE L. B. Dec. 24, 1954 [Nov. 27, 1953; March 15, 1954; July 26, 1954], Nos. 33055/53, 7454/54 and 21758/54. Class 86 Apparatus for mixing oil with the petrol delivered by a petrol pump comprises a tubular body 1 one end of which is formed with a threaded socket 2 for attachment to a transparent, graduated oil receiver 3 whilst the other end forms a delivery spout 4 for the oil-petrol mixture, the body having a side tube 6 terminating in a socket 7 containing an elastic sealing sleeve 9 into which is inserted the delivery spout 8 of the petrol pump. A pipe 10 is supported. co-axially by a disc 11 within body 1 and extends into the receiver 3, the disc having holes 12 and a tubular extension 14 formed with an enlargement 15 around which exists a narrow annular gap 16. In use, petrol from the nozzle 8 sweeps through the receiver 3 mixing with and displacing the oil therefrom, the mixture flowing into the vehicle fuel tank through the spout 4. When the flow is stopped the petrol remaining in the apparatus drains into the tank through the gap 16. In modifications, the drainage opening is closed during delivery by a valve held against its seating by a spring or by petrol pressure and lifted by hand or by a return spring when delivery is stopped.
