Abstract
802,525. Catalytic gas burners. BELLO, G. Oct. 19, 1955, No. 29794/55. Classes 75(1) and 75(3) In a gas heater comprise ing a space fed with gas and closed by a catalytic gas oxidizing mass having an electrical preheater 7, the latter is enclosed between two layers 3, 4 of the catalytic mass. The layers of catalytic material are contained between two wire gauges or perforated sheets 5, 6, the outer of which has reinforcing ribs. The preheater 7 is of zigzag form and is connected to terminals on the side of a box 1 forming the gas space; it may be in two or more sections fed with different voltages. The gas is fed to the box by a perforated sinusoidal or spiral tube 9 closed at its ends and fed centrally. A third perforated sheet 12 is located between the gas supply tube 9 and the catalytic material. In a further embodiment the catalytic mass is of part cylindrical form and the preheater comprises a series of parallel wires. The gas tube is sinusoidal and has its outlet apertures directed away from the catalytic material.
