Abstract

799,382. Casings for dynamo-electric machines; transformers. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. June 26, 1956 [July 1, 1955], No. 19785/56. Classes 35 and 38 (2). Rotor end-play in a rotatable machine, e.g. a motor or transformer, is adjusted by means of a movable end-cover 40 axially secured by a threaded locking ring 68 which is prevented from rotation by a split-ring 76. The end-cover is faced inside with insulation 50 through which the conductors pass. The stator is secured by a crimped spring washer 64 compressed by a sleeve 66. The locking ring has a series of radial slots 70 in its inner face. The split-ring has a bulge 82 engaging one of these radial slots and is prevented from rotation by ends 80 engaging in a slot 56 in the casing. Various shapes of split-ring are described.
